Jim Daine
Jim Daine started working with antlers in 1998, and since that time Great Daine Antlerworks has emerged as a leader in the field of Antler Art.
As a boy growing up in the country in Up-State New York, Jim was always attracted to antlers. He felt, and still feels, that there is something special, almost magical about them.
Great Daine Antlerworks is better described as a passion. "I do not want to become the biggest antler artist, I want to become the best." To do this, Jim feels that safety, integrity, originality and detail must all come together in a timely manner, at an agreeable price. This is not something that comes off an assembly line, in a shop. It has to come from the heart.
A lot of Jim's art is about simplicity, in a complex sort of way. He likes to let each antler make a statement of its own.
When you look at a finished piece it's nice to appreciate each individual antler that comes together and becomes a whole!
Fake antlers need not apply!
Jim has and is always ready to build on site. Some pieces just don't go through the door. One of Jim's masterpieces is a giant chandelier which now resides in the home of Gary and Dixie Gap in North Fork, Idaho. This masterpiece was built in the living room, as it was too large to go in or out of the door.
He also gives private showings in people's homes to help them find the prefect work of art that compliments their decor.
